Context
eBay’s Identity surface is the gate to the marketplace. Staff Android work here has to stay secure, reliable, and consistent with iOS and backend while meeting privacy and industry standards.

What I did
Staff Android Engineer on the Identity team (since Dec 2024). Lead architecture and delivery for authentication and session features on Android, partner across product, design, backend, security, and iOS, and raise the bar through reviews, mentoring, and modern auth migrations.

Owning and evolving Identity on Android so millions of users get trusted, performant auth — including biometrics, Credential Manager, and Passkeys — without sacrificing maintainability.
Highlights
- Lead architecture, design, and development of secure, scalable Identity features (login, 2FA, biometric auth) on Android
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, backend, and security on Identity roadmaps
- Ensure compliance with privacy regulations and standards (OAuth2, OpenID Connect, GDPR) in authentication flows
- Own and evolve the Identity module with a focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability
- Drive technical excellence through code reviews, mentoring, and sharing best practices
- Partner with iOS and backend teams for consistent cross-platform Identity experiences
- Lead investigations and resolve complex authentication and session-management issues
- Integrate and optimize SDKs for biometric authentication and credential management (e.g. Android Credential Manager)
- Establish testing strategies including unit, instrumentation, and end-to-end tests for Identity flows
- Guide migration of legacy authentication flows to modern alternatives like Passkeys
